Glimmer of a Work at Home Job - A Real One!

For months now, I have been working on working - at home. Where to start? I had no idea. I surfed the Internet and found lots of things that seemed fishy, scammy, spammy, and blatant rip-off-ish. I knew I had skills to offer that could put me to work while I stayed home. The first bright spot came when the Texas Workforce Commission sent me a notice of a job opening for a home-based Customer Service position. I didn't get hired, but it confirmed my instinct that there were real work-at-home jobs out there.

This post begins a series I'll be writing about my journey from beginning to the present. The ins and outs of a 40-something woman determined to find a viable, legitimate way to work from home and contribute to the support of my family. So for those interested in my life or interested in attempting this same Herculean feat in today's world, here goes.... read on!

This past summer I found myself flipping channels late at night on TV. Enter the dreaded infomercial! This particular one was of the "Get Rich Quick" ilk. Ugh. Why did I watch it. I am so embarrassed to admit it. But I did. With my laptop humming, I hit Google with the smarmy guy's name to find some reviews. Bam! There were tons of reviews. I read several... scam city to say the least. One link that I located would become the foundation of everything I've done since then.

I found my online, work at home mentor. He may not know it and I don't exactly do the same type of work that he does, but Eddy Salomon has guided me safely through the minefields that are out there in the work at home world. Through his blog and websites, I can try different things and learn even more about how to avoid fraudulent or time-wasting "jobs" and programs.

So if you are struggling or just getting started, please visit his websites. Learn how to tell a scam from a legit opportunity. Learn why you shouldn't work at home... yes, I said shouldn't! Read the reviews, use the job search tools, and most of all read the articles that really educate you and empower you to do what's best for you!

Eddy's sites are:
Work at Home No Scams
and
Work at Home Careers

And stay tuned... I'll be posting again soon about some of the things I have tried and what worked for me and what didn't!

  2. Well, Liz, how's the search going. Maybe you got a job that keeps you so busy and engaged that you are too busy blog. That would be a blessing. Although, I would love to hear how your endeavor is doing.
